If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,2 Fulfill ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. 4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. 5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. ( Philippians 2:1-5 KJV)
Paul is writing to his friends in Philippi while he’s under house arrest in Rome; awaiting a hearing before Caesar which will either end his release or his execution. He has been away from the Philippians for over a year, and even in the midst of his own circumstances—he is concerned that the Philippians will fall away from his teachings as they relate to events that happen around them.

Your attitude starts with your thoughts—Proverbs 23:7 records that “As a man thinketh in his heart so is he” Your very world will become as YOU perceive it. Our text says that the mind of a Christian should be as Philippians 5:2 – “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” Paul directs the reader to focus one’s attitude on Christ—and lest there be any doubt, he says in 1 Corinthians 2:2: “For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.”
An attitude adjustment that you have the desire to change how you look at things. My circumstances can not be the greatest influence in my attitude. My attitude allows me to choose how to handle my circumstances. A right attitude starts with a song; but my attitude starts with a song in my heart that helps me on my way.
The coffee company says that the best part of waking up is ” Folgers in your cup! While I love a cup of coffee in the morning, I’d have to argue with Folgers—the best part of waking up is having Jesus in my heart!
